Ethanol

Our associates have a combined 30 years experience designing and building renewable energy systems. We are a primary designer and builder of ethanol plants. We also design and build individual components such as distilling towers, molecular sieves and co2 scrubber systems.
Make Ethanol

Ethanol: Fuel ethanol is nothing more than whiskey or good ole moonshine.

Therefore, if you intend to make it, you must get an alcohol fuel producers permit from the government.

The permit is easy to fill out. It is only 5 pages and will keep the revenuers happy.

Some relevant data:

  • 1 gallon [US, liquid] = 3.7854118 liter; 80 liters = 21.1 gallons
  • Energy content of 1 gallon of ethanol equals 77,000 BTU
  • Weight of 1 gallon of ethanol equals 6.59 lbs

  • Sugar related data for Brazil: http://www.parc.gov.pk/sugar.html
  • t/h of cane 68.4 % sugar recovery 14.5 t/h of sugar 9.91
  • 0.145 ton-sugar/ton-cane = 290 lb-sugar/t-cane

  • Reaction of sugar to ethanol requires 12.4 lb-sugar/gal-ethanol
  • 290/12.4 = 23.4 gallons; yield then 90.2%

  • Ethanol energy content from 1 ton-short = 1,620,000 BTU

  • Ethanol energy content for 300 ton-long = 330 ton-long equals = 0.535 billion BTU

We Don't Need Gasoline, Never Did

Facts: Scientific and historical about gasoline and alcohol

  • 1. The original automobiles ran on alcohol because when they were invented gasoline was not available.

  • 2. Rockefeller spent $4 million (that we know of) to promote Prohibition, a ban on alcohol manufacturing in the US that started in 1919 just as the car industry was taking off.

  • 3. When Prohibition was lifted in 1933, gasoline stations were ubiquitous and most engines ran on gasoline only.

  • 4. Alcohol can be manufactured locally and on a community level from renewable plant material for $1 per gallon.

  • 5. The growing of plant material for alcohol would have no effect on the price of food.

  • 6. The growing of plants for fuel would more than neutralize the carbon created by burning alcohol for fuel.

  • 7. In Brazil, over 50% of new cars sold can already run on 100% alcohol.

  • 8. Producing alcohol from plant material is incredibly energy efficient.

  • 9. The oil companies aggressively promote garbage science to deceive the public into believing that alcohol fuels: a) will cause starvation, b) are uneconomical, and c) are net polluters.

  • 10. Gasoline is a high toxic material.

  • 11. It is entirely unneeded to fuel our cars.

  • 12. Oil companies like Chevron have pressured PBS, commercial TV networks and other news media to keep this basic information from the public for decades - and the censorship continues to this day.

    Make Ethanol Fuel

    ____________________ ____________________

You can make your own ethanol fuel with our high tech ethanol still.

Contrary to popular belief, the reflux column was not invented by Robert Warren. It has been around for decades. It employs a column fitted with internal packing to provide a large surface area inside. This allows the distillate vapors from a boiler to rise up the column towards the top, where the vapors are then condensed. This condensed liquid is then allowed to run back down through the rising vapors. As the condensed liquid cascades back down through the packing it becomes enriched by the rising vapors in the column. As the descending liquid passes down the column, a point is reached where the temperature becomes hot enough that the liquid boils again. This process is called a reflux cycle.

As this cycle continues, the mixture inside the tower is re-distilled many times. The reflux column can be used with either continuous or batch distillation operations, and it can be scaled up or down to meet either industrial or home distillation needs.

Alcohol is an amazing thing: it gives us pleasure, relieves pain, can be used as medicine, and has many commercial uses, including automotive fuel.

You can ferment any starchy or sugary foods or waste products into a mash that you can distill into 190 proof alcohol.

Alcohol is the waste product from yeast. Yeast is a living organism that causes fermentation. Very simply - yeast takes in sugar and gives off alcohol.

To produce alcohol (ethanol) these things happen:

Make a mash. The mash is a combination of mixing together exact proportions of water, yeast and grains or sugars.

Then the mash, through the fermentation process, makes a beer or wine solution.

Then the beer or wine is run through a still (distilling device) removing the alcohol out of the beer.

This still design is capable of making high percentage alcohol which requires less dehydration before being used as a fuel.

The ethanol stills job is to remove water vapor and send it out the bottom of the still and send high proof alcohol out the other end for drinking or fuel use.

This still design is the result of a series of tests and design modifications to achieve the most efficient 3 inch distilling device ever built. It is simple and very efficient. None of the flaws of the Charles 803 are present in this ethanol still.

Looking at the picture to your right you can see one of the many improvements we made to the c-803. We bring the cooling lines out through the bell fittings for a much more secure and easier to use fitting. Doesn't leak or come loose like on the c-803 and much easier to assemble.

We will furnish you with a complete ready to run still, or you can get the parts yourself and simply use our plans.

One of the best attributes of these plans is that you can expand them proportionately to build a larger still if you so desire. You aren't necessarily limited to small scale production.

Get the 3 inch still with all hookup hoses to attach to a 55 gallon drum, the temperature control valve, temperature guage and installation manual.

Get it all for only $1995.00. Plus $120 shipping.

    zeolite molecular sieve

  • Zeolite is a molecular sieve that is used to dry out alcohol, specifically for ethanol fuel production.

  • 3A zeolites possess selective micropores whereon, due to the small size of their pores, the water molecules are adsorbed while the ethanol molecules are excluded.

  • You need zeolite to finish removing the water from the ethanol that comes out of the still. The best any still can produce is 190 proof (95% ethanol and 5% water). The remaining 5% to 10% of water needs to be removed to make the ethanol ok to mix with gasoline.

  • With zeolite, which is called a molecular sieve, you strain out the water at the molecular level.

  • Zeolite is very absorbent. You put the zeolite in a bucket, then add the ethanol in the bucket, and the zeolite absorbs the water from the ethanol. You can also use a large funnel with a screen on the bottom. Zeolite can hold about 22% of its weight in water (i.e. 1 lb of zeolite absorbs .22lb of water).

  • Zeolite is reusable, Zeolite can be reactivated by thermal heating or vacuum desorption. Then you can reuse it again and again. Just don't dry it in your kitchen oven (or anywhere else in your house). We just heard of a guy doing this and he no longer has an oven door.

  • Our zeolite is type 3a. It is the small mesh size so that it absorbs the water quicker.

  • For each 10 gallons of ethanol to dry, you will need 22 pounds of Zeolite.

  • Available in 6 pound buckets for $43.50 (Price includes shipping on 6 pound) or a 25 pound bucket for $149.00 (Price includes shipping on 25 pound).
